The men, Ryan and Todd, joined us Wednesday night in Carmel. Christy and I couldn’t be more excited about them joining us so they could cook us amazing meals and make our cocktails. I love to cook, but the men in our family are great cooks and always come up with delicious unhealthy meals! When on vacation we normally eat and drink through the day until we feel sick and are ready to go to bed at 8 PM. This vacation was no different. Lots of drinking and eating were done this past week!
Thursday morning we woke up and had a hearty meal of bacon, eggs, sausage, and cinnamon rolls (I told you we eat a lot). When lunch time rolled around we decided we would go out to lunch. All 12 of us headed to Rio Grill in Carmel. Rio Grill is one of our Carmel staples that we have been going to ever since I was a little girl and it never disappoints.
Thursday afternoon consisted of more drinking and an amazing fish dinner that the men cooked at the house.
Friday morning we did something that you normally wouldn’t catch our family doing on vacation…….. we did something active and went on a bike ride! More of a shock was that is was all Todd’s idea! It ended up being one of my favorite moments from the week and think more active activities might be in our future vacation plans. Ryan, Christy, Todd, and I rode bikes down to the beach which is about 1.5 miles from the house and all downhill. We took in the scenery and took a few pics then decided it was time to make the trek back up the hill. I couldn’t stop laughing going up the hill because it was hard and the guys couldn’t even breathe in between all their complaints and cuss words. When we finally made it back to the house we were all exhausted and tired and decided it was time for a cold beer! Isn’t that what normal people do after a hard bike ride?!
Saturday morning was yet another big breakfast followed by more playing outside. Saturday afternoon all the adults headed out for some adult time. We went to Spanish Bay for some drinks and appetizers and took in the beautiful view by the fire pits.
Saturday night we had an all-American dinner of chili dogs and chicken wings to celebrate the 4th of July. We sat around the fire, drinking, made smores and let the kids do some small fireworks. It was the perfect 4th of July in my book!Sunday we all cleaned the house, packed up and headed back to the Lodi heat. We had an amazing week with our family and made many memories we will always remember. Until next time Carmel……
